A Glimpse of Africa!

Wow, My First Full Day in SA.

I had my first full day here in SA and I have so many, many thoughts here in my head. Yesterday we went rafting at 6am and we were packed up and ready to go in the car- not even a full 24 hours since Ive been here. Were in the car driving and it’s my first glimpse of the city I am in- whizzing ads as we speed on the highway, Honda dealerships, Vodafone, Toshiba stores, luxury condo ads, developments of new mall strips being developed, colorful outdoor pastry and coffee shops, familiar clothing lines, fitness clubs and spa locations- very American, very westernized lifestyle. I cant put a finger on it, on how I feel, how to even grasp being here in this country. There is so much wealth. I feel like Ive been here before, although I have not. My coach Jackie says that you cant compare this country to any other country in the world, simply because it is not like any other country in the world. It is one of the most wealthiest countries in the world to be a developing country.

Here’s some pictures of South Africa!

I’m still comprehending being here. It took an entire year to get here but I am here. I Thank the Lord. Although I’m feeling tired after my long flight into Africa, we  went white water rafting…at 6am…in 60 degree weather…! Here we go, another adventure!

Rafting was great and a good introduction to getting familiar with living with my missionary roomates :-)
